Venue Review: Pollok House, Glasgow

Pollok House

Pollock Park has won European park of the year, and the Jiggers love turning up to play in Pollok House.

Location

It’s in the heart of Pollok Country Park, on the south-side of Glasgow. Pollok House is a National Trust for Scotland property and is regarded as one of Scotland’s grandest Edwardian country homes.

Quirky Features

Dating back to the thirteenth century, Pollok House is famous for its architecture, luxurious furnishings and world-famous art collection, including masterpieces by El Greco, Blake and Murillo…Don’t you know:)

What makes it a good venue?

The beautiful gardens  are great for wedding photographs, drinks reception and taking a quick breather from the energetic ceilidh dancing! For smaller events, the dancing is “below stairs” right next door to an old-fashioned kitchen (where guests are served the evening buffet). Often, our wedding clients book the marquee for bigger events.

Our Impressions

Pleasant and helpful staff.  Plenty of room for tables round the dancefloor and a cosy atmosphere against the wider setting of a country mansion in very pleasant, wooded parkland. The bridge over the river is so picturesque, it’s just such a relaxing location!
