Venue Review: The Royal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh

The Royal Botanic Gardens

The Jiggers have been invited to play many ceilidhs at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh.

Location

The Royal Botanic Gardens are just to the north of the city centre. It’s easily accessible for transport/parking, but it still feels like a more suburban setting.

Quirky Features

The magnificent Victorian Temperate Palm House is the tallest of its kind in Britain

What makes it a good venue?

The atmosphere is bright and friendly. There is a glass wall overlooking the gardens and there’s a nice decking area which is an attractive feature that allows guests to enjoy the fresh air outdoors after the energetic business of ceilidh dancing. It’s an upstairs location, but there are plenty of lifts etc… for disabled access should that be required.

Our Impressions

We find the food is always good and the staff are very helpful. We usually recommend that you opt for our “early setup” option, since the band’s access route to the stage is quite convoluted!  The stage area is easily big enough for our larger band line-up (e.g. 5 piece/covers/DJ combined package).

If you have hosted or attended an event at The Royal Botanic Gardens , please do leave a comment and share your experience.
