Venue Review: St Andrew’s in the Square, Glasgow

St Andrew’s in the Square

The Jiggers ceilidh band plays at Saint Andrew’s in the Square regularly throughout the year.

Location

It’s in Glasgow city centre, near to Glasgow Cross.

Quirky Features

The building is a beautifully restored 18th Century former church. The main auditorium has plenty of natural light and the grand solid oak floor is ideal for ceilidh dancing. The stage area has a big pulpit in the middle, which is visually arresting.

What makes it a good venue?

The main space is huge and there’s plenty of room for tables around the dance-floor and the food is great. There is a sound limiter because of the location, but since we’re not an especially loud band, we’ve never had trouble with that. We’ve always found the staff and management most friendly and courteous.

Our Impressions

It’s a perfect location to hold any function, be it a corporate ceilidh or a wedding.
