Venue Review: Dundas Castle, by South Queensferry

Dundas Castle

The Jiggers are a regular choice for weddings at Dundas Castle.

Location

Dundas Castle has been transformed into a 5-star ‘Exclusive Use’ venue and is secluded in its own vast estate by South Queensferry, just west of Edinburgh.

Quirky features

The Castle is made up of 3 main buildings:

  • The Auld Keep (built in 1416 for the purpose of being both a home in times of peace and a fortress in times of war).
  • The Main House, as it’s known, was built in 1818 by the architect William Burn and has belonged to the Stewart-Clark family since the late 1800s.
  • The classic Pavilion on the lawns completes the trio.

What makes it a good venue?

The imposing Castle structure is breath-taking on arrival – it really is impressive as you drive in… and wedding parties are well catered for in the large, well-appointed Pavilion Marquee.

Our impressions

The light wall surfaces in the Marquee show off the disco lighting effects perfectly and there is plenty room for ceilidh dancing. People usually hire the ceilidh/DJ combination for weddings here.
