What size of ceilidh band should I choose for my venue?
The Jiggers perform as a 3 ,4 or 5 piece band. All line-ups include a caller, who will also be one of the musicians. We also include a DJ and professional PA and Lighting at no extra charge.
Things to consider when deciding on the size of band:
The full five piece band offers a big impressive sound, and this is what we recommend for larger events. The volume doesn’t have to be loud, of course, but the larger band will have a more considerable stage presence.
Typical 5-piece line up: fiddle x 2, guitar, bass, drumkit.
The four piece band is the standard line-up, and is suitable for most venues unless stage area is at a premium.
Typical 4 piece line up: fiddle, guitar/keys, bass, drumkit.
The three piece band is a popular choice for clients who have limited space, but still want a good, lively band. Often a good choice if you want a shorter ceilidh section (e.g. 1-2 hours)
Typical 3 piece line up: fiddle, guitar/keys, drumkit.
We have played in hundreds of venues across Scotland, so it is likely that we are already acquainted with your venue. If you are not sure about which size, please call us and we can advise you on the best band for your venue.
